We collect only what we need to reply to you and to improve this website. We don’t sell your information, and we handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who we are

TheThinkLab is a digital product team based in Canberra, ACT. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean TheThinkLab. You can reach us at hello@thethinklab.au.

What we collect

When you contact us

When you send a message, request a quote or apply for the co-founder program, we collect what you enter: usually your name, email, business name, phone number (if you give one), and your answers about your project. We also record how you found us: the first page you visited, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed.

When you browse the site

We use a website analytics service to understand how people use this website. It records the pages you visit, the buttons you click, how far you scroll, your browser and device type, your approximate location (city or country), and page-speed measurements. It may also record your visit as a session replay, a reconstruction of what happened on the page, so we can find where the site is confusing. Anything you type into a form is hidden in these recordings. The service uses cookies and your browser’s local storage to recognise repeat visits. We also keep a note in your browser of how you first found the site (kept for a year) and what last brought you back (90 days), so an enquiry can show where you found us. If you send us a form, your visits and any clicks on links in our emails to you are linked to your enquiry using a reference number, not your name or email address.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and work with you on your project.
  • To send a guide you ask for. We only send other tips if you tick the box to say yes, and every one has a way to stop them.
  • To see which pages, campaigns and channels bring enquiries, so we spend our marketing effort well.
  • To find and fix problems on the website and make it easier to use.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for anything unrelated to these purposes.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website and our business:

  • website hosting, which also processes form submissions;
  • email delivery, for the emails sent from our forms;
  • business email;
  • spreadsheet storage, where we keep a record of each enquiry so none are lost;
  • a spam check on our forms (Cloudflare Turnstile), which looks at signals from your browser to tell people from automated spam;
  • website analytics and session recordings.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers with strong security and privacy practices, and they may only use your information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to work with you and to meet our legal and tax obligations. Analytics data is kept for up to one year.

Your choices

  • You can browse this site without giving us any personal details.
  • You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or use a content blocker, to stop analytics.
  • You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.

Questions and complaints

Email hello@thethinklab.au and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner atoaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if the way we handle information changes, and change the date at the top.
